Iroquois Maples
On a fabulous autumn day I took my Rottweiler Juno out for a walk on the Bruce Trail. The colours were incredible in this predominantly maple forest.

Beamer Summer Cedars
The sprawling roots of this escarpment cedar are dappled with the forest light. The vivid summer colours pop in the background of this tree painting.

Grand Oak Vineland
There are many huge oaks in the Niagara region. These trees are hundreds of years old and the community has been built up around their massive trunks. I can drive past them many times and not even take notice but once in a while the light compels me to stop and take some pictures. I love the deep purple/burgandy in this painting.

Ball's Falls Forest Trail
This trail is part of the Bruce Trail on the descent to the creek below Ball's Falls Conservation area. I tried to photograph this area again and was never able to get the same lighting.

Cyprus Lake Cedars
On the way to the Grotto in the Bruce Peninsula National park there is a beautiful cedar forest. When the sun is just right in the late part of the morning on a summer day the shadows and highlights on the cedars are magical.

Cyprus Lake Cedars 2
The trail around Cyprus Lake takes us around the lake and through the cedar groove. The cedars sparkle with the sunlight. The pools of light are bright against the dark cedar trunks.

Ball's Falls Hemlock
This riverside hemlock is beautifully backlit and framed by the bright fall foliage. The flow of the lines mimic the flow of the water in the background.

Algonquin Roots
While camping at Rock Lake in Algonquin Park we went for a walk and came across these lovely roots in a softly lit summer forest. The purple hues of the roots combine nicely with the cool green moss.
